Sinfonia 3: Makkipok!

Featuring: Lady Cove, under the direction of Kellie Walsh, with guest soloist Deantha Edmunds, soprano, guest organist Tom Gordon and special guests Newman Sound

Makkipok! will feature selections which highlight and celebrate Labrador.

More than 200 years ago Moravian missionaries introduced European sacred music to the Inuit people of Labrador.  Across the centuries, Inuit singers and instrumentalists transformed an imported music into a unique expression of Inuit cultural identity.  Makkipok! Labrador Inuit Music for Passiontide and Easter showcases some of these beautiful 18th and 19th century classical works for choir and orchestra, reconstructed from original manuscripts found in the collections of churches in Nain, Hopedale and Hebron.
