The NSO has participated in many exciting projects with many members of the community! Have a look at a few of our recent projects:
The NSO was featured in CAPP’s recent story “Bringing Music to the Masses”.
“Newfoundland and Labrador’s oil and gas operators and explorers provide funding and support to a variety of charitable organizations and community groups. The contributions and support of industry to the local arts community provides meaningful connections and experiences for people of all ages. For professional artists and musicians looking to build their careers at home, a vibrant, supported arts community allows them to grow their careers right here while sharing their talents and inspiring the next generation.
With program funding from the business community, including oil and gas companies in the province, Heather Kao, Concert Master of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, is finding new and surprising ways to introduce local children to the wonders of classical music.”
The NSO was featured in the recent NL Tourism video, Performance. This video features the piece “Sounds from the Edge” which was composed by local composer Andrew Staniland and performed by the NSO & Shallaway Youth Choir.
