Jennifer Brennan

In June 2017, following a lovely 34 year career as a Department Head for Mathematics with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, Jennifer retired from active teaching to join the NSO administrative team as Education and Community Outreach Coordinator.

Much of her life has been spent participating in musical endeavors. Jennifer has sung as a soloist, a chorister, and for ten years, directed a church choir at St. Teresa’s Parish. Interestingly, she began her teaching career as a music teacher in Happy Valley Goose Bay and taught music in both Marystown and Torbay before joining the ranks of Mathematics teachers. Jennifer has volunteered with numerous organizations such as the St. Bonaventure’s College Parents’ Auxiliary (Vice-President) for twelve years, and as a Board member for the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra (now Calos). Presently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival and since 2011, Jennifer has been a member of the Tuckamore Festival Committee as Festival Volunteer Coordinator.

In her spare time, Jennifer loves to travel and take long walks with her husband, Bob and they have two sons Timothy and Mark, who are both wonderful musicians.

How many years have you been with the NSO?

Who is your favourite composer?
What's the best NSO concert or NSO moment?

I enjoy all aspects of my work with the NSO. In particular, I love coordinating our outreach programs/projects for the orchestra and arranging for our musicians and music director to meaningfully connect with our province’s music students, teachers, school district and many community organizations.
