The program begins with Joseph Haydn at his most clever and clear, a quartet that feels both light on its feet and tightly built.
Two works by Alice Ho shift the sound world, bringing in new textures and colors, including a striking role for flute. Amy Beach’s Theme and Variations rounds things out, unfolding gradually and giving the whole ensemble space to really settle into a shared sound.
