The 2019-2020 season for the NSO came off to a good start!! The night was very enjoyable as all NSO concerts are, but really kicked off the season was when I sang One Voice with Shallaway Youth Choir, it sounded amazing. This song was also part of the end of a very important campaign to raise funds for a new chemotherapy unit in NL so it was very special singing it with the orchestra. But one of my favorite parts of the night was (of course) the one and only Andrew Wan. This man is a violin expert, not only did he play amazingly he also used a lot of body language and energy which really made his performance above and beyond. Andrew used all the elements of music and balanced them all perfectly into one concerto. I’m very glad I got to meet Andrew and see him perform. Then after that they played Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.  If I were to choose one movement of this Symphony I would definitely choose the third one. Pizzicato Ostinato Allegro. I LOVE PIZZICATO. It was such a fun adventure with the entire string section playing pizzicato for basically the whole movement. Absolutely outstanding. I definitely loved this concert and I cant wait to experience the magic of orchestral music in the upcoming performances this season.

The beginning of my experience as an NSO Youth Ambassador was absolutely breathtaking. Being able to meet such wonderful musicians along with seeing them perform was an experience to be remembered. Andrew Wan was incredibly talented and I’m blown away at the fact that I had the opportunity to meet him. Watching Andrew play was the most entertaining thing ever! The way he expresses himself during his performance by swaying and moving to the music was absolutely fantastic to watch. His energy was infectious and his playing was obviously out of this world. Meeting the conductor himself, Marc David was also remarkable considering how fantastic he is. There’s no way to explain Marc David other than absolutely remarkable. As well as Andrew Wan’s awesome performance, The fourth movement of P. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 was also one of my favourite moments of the performance. The transition between the third movement (mainly Pizzicato) into the aggressive fourth movement was definitely jaw-dropping and extraordinary. Intermission was absolutely fantastic as well considering Daniel and I were able to meet such outstanding youth passing by who were just as excited as we were to be there (and to get such awesome treats as well!). Overall, this concert was absolutely amazing and I’m so very grateful for this experience and am very much looking forward to the next one!
