Jill Dawe

Jill Dawe began playing trumpet at age eleven. She is a graduate of Memorial University’s Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Music Education conjoint degree and Master of Music Education programs. Jill works with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, teaching junior high classroom and choral music in the St. John’s area. She also maintains a private trumpet studio.

Making the balance between teaching and performing a core goal, Jill plays around town in a variety of groups and seeks out opportunities to work with young people. She currently holds the second trumpet position in the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. She has also been fortunate to play and record with Hey Rosetta! and The Fortunate Ones.

How many years have you been with the NSO?

Who is your favourite composer?

What's the best NSO concert you have seen or been a part of?

My favourite concert to be a part of was the collaboration concert with the (then) NSYO playing Pines of Rome.
